The projects are graded by skill and have suggestions for size and fabric differences. My favourites are the Evelyn Clutch, Miranda Bag and Stephanie Bag. You can make 76 bags with this book.

Sue Kim has followed her first book of bag projects (Bags - The Modern Classics) with another beauty. As she did before, Sue has provided detailed step-by-step instructions illustrated with clear photographs for each of the 19 projects in this latest volume. This, coupled with the stylish design of the bags and the excellent technique overview chapter, makes Boutique Bags an excellent choice for crafters who are building their bag-making skills or looking for creative inspiration. The bags range from coin purses, clutches and evening bags all the way up to a huge market bag, 16 1/2 in. long and 12 in. wide. Each bag is shown made in at least three very different fabrics, demonstrating the impact that colour and print can have on the bag's personality.

In Kims second collection of purse, clutch, and bag patterns, the author (Bags) focuses on the feminine, with lots of pleats, bows, and ruffles as details. Three basic styles are presented: small pouches and coin purses, clutches, and larger shoulder bags, and each includes multiple projects, many with variations in hardware or embellishment. Most of the bags are beginner-friendly, and the instructions are perfect for novices. Sewists seeking structured bags wont find them here, but if slouchy hobos, roomy shopping totes, and frilly handbags are of interest, theres plenty to choose from. Basic sewing skills are assumed, but step-by-step instructions for nuances that make homemade bags look more professional, such as sewn-in piping, magnetic snaps, and adjustable straps and buckles, are supplied.
