The Tabletop Companion That Keeps Quilters in the Flow
Share
I’m sure every quilter has one...that reference book (or likely several) filled with post-it notes marking those nuggets of information you use over and over again. (How wide do I need to cut my strips for a 1/4” wide double-fold binding? How big should I make my twin size quilt? How do I adjust my stitch tension?) It is dog-eared on the pages you DO use and contains chapters worth of information that is rarely looked at.
Digging through dozens of pages to find that one bit of information is annoying and inefficient and The Quilter’s Quick-Reference Guide: Your Essential Tabletop Companion was born from this exact frustration. The core idea behind its development was simple: a quilter needs only the most essential, vetted information immediately available on their tabletop—a reliable assistant that sits right beside the sewing machine, thoughtfully organized, durable, and easy-to-find.
For this guide, we cherry-picked the information that is truly critical to every stage of a project—from yardage conversion to binding and including some of my favorite bits: How do I make Four-at-Time Flying geese and what size squares do I need to cut? Remind me how to piece curved seams, it’s been awhile. And of course, how do I sew my binding ends together? I never remember...)
Aside from containing only absolutely essential information the other non-negotiable feature was durability. I don’t know about you but my sewing table is a busy place, (crazy mess is really more like it!) that’s prone to fabric scraps, errant pins, and the occasional spilled cup of tea.
For The Quilter’s Quick-Reference Guide we used coated, durable paper and made the pages extra beefy. So that you can see it easily on your tabletop, it is engineered with a stable, fold-out base that allows it to stand upright, completely hands-free, right next to your sewing machine. And the large, easy-flip ring binding is designed for continuous use and allows you to move quickly between sections—aided by color-coded tabs—without the pages getting snagged or torn.
And, for a fun, creative bonus on the back of every quick-reference page: a fully diagrammed quilt block! (Because flipping back and forth looking for information on the back side of each page would have been annoying and possibly confusing) This means that while the front offers critical data (e.g., cutting conversions), the back provides an immediate, inspiring block idea, complete with cutting charts and assembly diagrams. It's a continuous source of both information and inspiration!
The Quilter’s Quick-Reference Guide is more than just a book; it's a productivity tool. It minimizes interruptions, protects your mental flow, and withstands the rigors of your craft, letting you spend less time searching and more time quilting.
