Patty Murphy’s passion for sewing began as a child, as she learned from her mother. She went on to create most of her wardrobe, and at age 18, Patty made her first quilt after an unfortunate event involving making a pleated skirt. She loves to work with bright, bold fabrics and enjoys manipulating traditional designs through her use of color. Patty enjoys sharing her craft with others and has taught throughout the United States and worldwide. Patty is the author of Piecing Makeover (C&T, 2016) and Perfect Piecing Pocket Handy Guide (C&T, 2022). Her work has been juried into multiple shows, and she is proud to have won several blue ribbons and a Best of Show ribbon. Patty’s work has been featured on magazine covers, books, and websites for major fabric manufacturers. When she isn't in her studio, Patty can be found cooking, baking, spending time with friends and family, and traveling.
