Am I a fussy cutter? Eh... not exactly. While I enjoy some aspects of fussy cutting, I don't lose sleep if directional fabric patches aren't all pointing in the same direction. So with some trepidation, I purchased Angie Wilson's Fussy Cutter's Club. Was this going to be a book I would enjoy? Would I be bombarded with all sorts of bizarre rules that would go against my frugal nature and turn all of my fabric into something resembling Swiss cheese? Would this turn out to be the Quilt Police Handbook in disguise? None of the above! Angie's easy-going writing style put me at ease from the first page. She tells us there is no right and wrong. She tells us this isn't a definitive guide to fussy cutting, but is an attempt to share her adventures in fussy cutting. The book is presented as a series of 14 projects using modern fabric, each focusing on different techniques, from EPP to improvisational piecing. If you are looking for a project-based book to introduce you to the world of fussy cutting with modern fabrics (rather than a reference-style book), then take a look at the Fussy Cutter's Club.

Antes que nada: Qu significa Fussy Cutting? A diferencia de cortar la tela en tiras para convertirla en cuadrados, en tringulos y otras figuras, el Fussy Cutting significa cortar la tela justamente alrededor de una imagen para mostrarla. En ocasiones, se recortar una figura especfica para centrarla en el block o el diseo en el que estamos trabajando, pero tambin se puede utilizar de manera repetitiva para lograr un diseo secundario. Angie Wilson nos lleva de la mano explicando cuales telas son ideales para el fussy cut, cuales herramientas son bsicas y nos da cantidad de sugerencias para poder hacer moldes cuando no tenemos acceso a comprarlos en acrlico transparente. El formato me pareci sumamente prctico pues repasa materiales, herramientas y manera de coser tanto a mquina como a mano pero no como si fuera un libro para principiantes donde muchas pginas se van enseando tcnicas bsicas de costura. Para el fussy cutting ya debes de tener conocimientos de costura y de corte con reglas y moldes de acrlico o similares. En conclusin, 15 proyectos y todo el know how para divertirte haciendo fussy cutting.
