Necktie Quilts Reinvented Print-on-Demand Edition

I am very happy with the patterns and ideas that are presented in this book. There is excellent guidance about preparing ties for projects and a lovely variety of patterns to choose from. In some of the projects, the author includes a nice mix of other fabrics in her tie quilts so they don't look as fusty as some patterns that insist on ties alone. I am looking forward to using my brother-in-law's Disney ties to create memorial quilts for each of his grandchildren.

Necktie Quilts Reinvented by Christine Copenhaver is a new-style book about an old art, making quilts from neckties. Copenhaver talks about choosing the ties, cleaning them, taking them apart and lining them all with fusible interfacing. She gives cutting and piecing instructions, and then gives patterns for 16 quilt, wall hanging and table runner projects. All of the projects are labeled by skill levels.
If you have decided to start a necktie collection or have had one given to you, Necktie Quilts Reinvented will really keep you inspired. Everything is written step-by-step and is very clear. It looks like a fun book to work with!

This is the best necktie quilt book I have seen. I knew I had to have this book when I realized I really like most of the quilts in it and I have a huge stash of ties. If you have a stash of ties you want to make into a special quilt you will want to get your hands on this book. Warning: if you don't have a stash of ties you're join to want some if you happen to come across this book on the shelf.

She starts with washing (or not) and moves to deconstructing (picking and pulling threads) and pressing. She covers arranging (all those reds!) and managing a tie stash. Copenhaver does not so much adapt ties to quilts as quilt ties in a new way. Her addition to the methodology is exploiting fusible interfacing "to stabilize the necktie material and to facilitate rotary cutting."
