Signature Labels and Keepsake Pockets

Signature Labels and Keepsake Pockets

By Christen Brown

Greetings to all of you creative people!

My name is Christen Brown, and I am a Creative Spark Instructor and a C&T Author.

In this charming course you'll learn how to add that meaningful final touch to your quilts, embroideries, or mixed media projects with custom signature labels and keepsake pockets.

All of us share a universal feeling of accomplishment once that last, final stitch has been made. The sense of pride, thinking over the many hours, months, perhaps even years, that it took to create a pile of stuff to the finished masterpiece before you.

The next logical step is to leave a record of the journey that the piece took. A signature label can help to record information like the title of the piece, your name, and the date completed.

I will also show you how to create a keepsake pocket, which can be used for a label, as well as a keep-sake holder. The pocket can hold objects that may have been instrumental to your process, swatches of the fabrics used, or perhaps a personal hand-written note.

I will share basic instructions for constructing and designing labels that can be handwritten or embroidered. Construction techniques range from a simple raw-edge label to a more elaborate pieced label. I will also show you how to simply attach that label or pocket, once you have completed it.

You’ll also learn how to make charming patch and square pockets designed to hold special notes, treasured mementos, or even bits of personal history. These pockets become a place to tuck in legacy information, memories, trinkets, or tiny treasures that add meaning and the back-story to your work.

The Details

The tutorial includes how-to-videos that explain how to fill out the label, whether it be hand-written or embroidered. Also included are four basic embroidery stitches, which include the backstitch, stem stitch, chain stitch, and stacked bead stitch. Bonus, a handout is included with the instructions to make the labels and pockets, and the embroidery stitches.

With design inspiration pulled from my own gallery of embellished pieces, this course offers more than just how-to-do-it, I offer you a way to preserve meaning in every stitch. I encourage you to sign up for this tutorial, and learn how to add that extra personal touch, whether it be a signature label or keepsake pocket. Sign up now.

Happy Stitching to You! ~Christen
