Enter a magical world of wild abandon where we sew using our eyes and decision-making skills instead of store-bought patterns. In this class, award-winning designers Shannon Leigh Roudhán and Jason Bowlsby will teach you to develop the critical eye and skills needed to create your own unique, contemporary, wonky interpretations of iconic quilt blocks. Enjoy the fun of making scrappy blocks (no predetermined pattern!) that match your style and taste, with guidance on improv techniques and color choice.
Shannon and Jason are the dynamic DIY duo from Seattle, Washington and your guides through the Scrappy Wonky experience! The duo has been partners in life for 27 years and has been teaching adults for 20+ years. With their mastery of subjects from crochet and knitting to photography, spinning, sewing, and quilting, their enthusiasm, quirky sense of humor, and relatable teaching style have made them sought after teachers in both local and national venues.
The Scrappy Wonky experience inspires an OMPH of creativity and imagination. Starting with Scrappy Wonky Log Cabin block, follow a progressively wonky path through pineapples, two kinds of stars, the ever-popular Scrappy Wonky Rose, and the wild and fun Genie in a Bottle Block. Piece them together into a wall hanging, throw, or full-size quilt — it’s up to you! Take one, two, or three block classes that look intriguing to you, or take the entire series.
Each block is taught in a LIVE Zoom class with a studio audience of fellow sewists. After class, Jason will edit the content and folks can watch and learn from the recording with no expiration. No need to be present for the LIVE class and you can join at any time!
