Cork Creations
If you haven’t jumped onto the bandwagon of cork fabric crafting, wait no longer. Cork
Creations is packed full of 20+ unique projects. Cork Fabric is being used in many
unique and quirky ways these days, let me show you to craft several techniques.
When I noticed the growing popularity of cork fabrics several years ago in many trend
and runway resources, I encouraged Belagio Enterprises, Inc. to import a new kind of
cork fabric- one that is lightweight and thinner than the traditional product. We created
this cork fabric to work with cotton fabrics for home décor and fashion accessories. It
mimics the weight and thickness of the best cotton fabrics, while providing fabric
strength and durability.
Cork Fabric has traditionally been used for handbags, and yes, you will find a few in this book but turn the pages and discover pillow covers and quilted table decor, both easy to sew for the beginner.
Fabric Manipulation (folding) is used to create the adorable dimensional owl on page
20. Use the same technique to complete the ornament on following pages. Because you can iron the Belagio cork fabric, you can secure folds if desired. If cork is rumpled in storage, press it out!
I am always pushing the limits of new products that I am working with for educating the
public. I even finished two journals with wood burned covers- why not? If it’s wood it
should be able to be wood burned, right?
I love to weave different fibers and working with cork fabric did not fail me. You will find
a woven pillow cover that was a pleasure to create. Take the same strips of cork fabric
and wrap cotton coiling to make a fun basket to hold your treasures.
Die-cutting this cork fabric is spectacular- the edges will self-seal. The autumn leaf
wreath is quick and easy when die-cutting the pieces. Speaking of die-cut, make
banners for all holidays and seasons. Let the kids help!
Because you can iron on this cork fabric, photo transfer works beautifully. Save those
photos for memory gifts like these.

When her parents retired from the store, Debi started her professional design career.
