Make the People and Places in Your Photographs Come to Life in Art Quilts!

Have you ever wished you could depict—in textile form—the natural beauty of a landscape photo you took on your favorite vacation? Or maybe you’ve always wanted to make a quilt to represent the real-life energy of certain people or sights. Meri Vahl will show you how!
Through Meri’s easy and achievable methods, you can capture realistic and beautiful renditions of landscapes, people, and buildings across the world.
The Fabric Collage with Tulle Overlay techniques allows you to turn any landscape photograph—a sunset, a forest, your childhood home, the background of a flower market—into the art quilt of your dreams.
The Paper Doll technique lets you place “dolls” (like people and detailed buildings) in the landscape “stage” you created in the first technique. Pairing the two together, you can create an artistic, quilted rendition of any photograph in your collection!
Photographs of Meri’s award-winning quilts featuring landscapes from around the world, and a gallery of her students’ work, will inspire you to create gorgeous art quilts all your own.
