Paper-Pieced Totes for the Young at Heart
Posted by Jennifer Warren on Nov 7th 2016
A few weeks ago, I completed my first paper-pieced block. I ended up making two—my contribution to a group quilt project that will be pieced together and quilted by another hand.
While it was exciting to see the blocks come together and to learn a new technique, I’ve realized I probably won’t be paper piecing an entire quilt any time soon.
Luckily, there’s a solution for those of us who enjoy paper piecing but don’t feel like taking on a whole quilt: Mary Hertel’s Cute & Clever Totes.
Inside its pages you’ll find 16 playful paper-pieced blocks and 6 bag patterns. Mix and match to create a useful (and adorable!) gift for yourself or others.
You’ll be over the moon with how easy these paper-pieced blocks can be, thanks to Mary’s time- and fabric-saving technique!
And don’t forget—these whimsical blocks aren’t just for tote bags. They can just as easily be used to make pillows, pot holders, and other small projects perfect for friends and family.
