Susanna Oroyan was a path-breaking doll-maker who published a series of important books on the techniques and design of figure sculpture, including Anatomy of a Doll, Designing the Doll, Fantastic Figures, Finishing the Figure, and Dolls of the Art Deco Era 1910-1940, all published by C&T Publishing. She was the founder of many doll-making organizations, and served as president of the National Institute of American Doll Artists for a number of years. "Susanna was one of the most creative, energetic, and imaginative authors we've had the privilege of working with," says Todd Hensley, CEO of C&T Publishing. "She was always busy creating and writing and finding new ways to advance the art of doll making." Susanna's whimsical and avant-garde dolls are held in collections around the world. She passed away in August 2007.
