Wendy has an extensive background in patchwork and textile design. She studied fashion and teaching after leaving school and went on to work in the fashion industry as a pattern maker / grader and worked as a full-time teacher of fashion.
She started her pattern business, Flying Fish Kits, in 2007 by selling patterns and kits online. Throughout her life, her passion has always been creative needlework. Her career and her casual life have blended together to create a long series of imaginative designs and ideas. The subjects for these projects are like thought bubbles from her life, and they reflect her house at the beach with underwater themes and her garden at home in Sydney with flowers, trees, and animals.
In 2008, Wendy joined forces with the team at Material Obsession. Since then she has become an invaluable member of the teaching team, while enjoying the colorful fabrics and creative students that frequent her classes. She is a prolific designer with new projects and ideas always on the go in quilts, housewares, clothing, and bags. A mother of two boys and a dog, and happily married to a great cook, Wendy has a life full of accomplishments.
