Australian textile artist Kristen Dibbs has qualifications in Primary school teaching and Art Education, and has taught adults since 1969. Kristen discovered textile art in 1986, and began teaching her innovative approach to machine embroidery in 1987.
Kristen now presents workshops throughout Australia and New Zealand, and has lectured in Switzerland, USA and Canada. Her magazine articles and three books about machine embroidery have reached an international audience.
Kristen's embroidered artworks are included in private and corporate collections in Australia and overseas. Two examples of her original techniques for embroidered lace work are held in the Powerhouse Museum of Applied Arts in Sydney.
Kristen lives in Sydney with her husband, and divides her time between exploring new techniques with her sewing machine, teaching and writing about machine embroidery and textile arts, and conducting art classes for children.
