Dorie Hruska is an award-winning longarm quilter, teacher, and author. She began her quilt obsession at the age of fifteen, when she pieced and quilted her first quilt, a Lone Star pattern. In 2002, she began her professional longarm-quilting business just three weeks after purchasing her first quilting machine. In addition to winning numerous ribbons for her machine quilting, Dorie's work has been featured on the cover of a magazine, in a wall calendar, and in other authors' books. In 2006, after discovering a love for hexagons, she started designing patterns and teaching classes on her method of hand-basting and piecing hexagon designs. In addition to teaching classes on machine quilting and English paper piecing hexagons and giving trunk shows, Dorie enjoys filling her time quilting for others on her APQS longarm quilting machine. Dorie lives in Highlandville, Missouri, with her husband and two teenage children.
