Class Description
Use wax crayons to tint your fabric, then embroider the lines to create a unique and colorful art piece.
This class is a fun introduction to hand embroidery, suitable for beginners age 11 and up, class size: up to 15 people.
Class Length
2-3 hours for color tinting and a good start on embroidering the project, students may need to finish their stitching at home.
Class Supplies

Required text: Doodle Stitching: Embroidery Art

8x8 inch square of white quilter’s cotton/muslin fabric

6 inch embroidery hoop
-
Size 3 or 5 embroidery needle

1 sheet of white paper
-
6-10 embroidery floss skeins in different colors

Lead pencil
-
Box of 24 wax crayons

Iron and ironing board, or flat surface and towel
TIP: Make it even easier for students to take the class by kitting a hoop, floss selection and needle
Classroom Preparation
Chair and table space for each student; ironing board or flat surface, crayons and iron(s) can be shared.
Class Outline
Follow the instructions beginning on page 94 to demonstrate how to:

Trace or draw a line art design on fabric to color and embroider

Color the design with wax crayons

Iron the fabric to set it in the color

Learn and practice different basic embroidery stitches to embroider the lines
