Class Description

Discover the art of creating timeless paper flowers as you learn the basics with a simple and stunning flower, the geranium. Learn about the endless possibilities that European crepe paper provides. Through cutting, shaping and coloring techniques, you will end with a beautiful realistic bloom.

You will finish one full paper geranium pages 25-28 with an emphasis on mastering basic techniques and tricks to further your paper flower making knowledge. This workshop is designed for beginners who have no experience with crepe paper flower making as well as more advanced crafters, as this course is another realistic flower to add to their repertoire.

Students will be able to gain both confidence and the know-how to make their very own realistic paper flowers.

Class Length

This workshop is ideally tailored to a small group (max 12) if teaching beginners. The class could be taught as a 3.5 hour workshop. For those with more advanced skill levels, the class could be shortened to 2.5 hours and the number of students could be increased. The class times can be adjusted based on how much prep of individual elements are done beforehand (example: pre-cut stamens, pre-cut petals, pre-made leaves.)

Classroom Preparation

Participants need to understand the different (but equally important) parts of the flower and how each component will come together as a whole. The steps to be followed should be done in the order written as to allow for necessary drying time in between flower sections.

If possible, kits should be made ahead of time for each participant. These kits would have precut/premeasured centers and papers for students so that their time is being used as efficiently as possible.

  2. Provide a brief but thorough overview of the materials being used (European crepe paper, concentrated watercolors and alcohol ink markers) for those who are unfamiliar.
