We’re thrilled to announce that Patty Murphy's Virtual Book Tour for Zero Waste Quilting starts tomorrow!

"Over the last 25 years, I’ve become increasingly aware of the environmental crisis facing us. What began as thoughtful conversations with my friend Renee about her habits in the late 90s has since inspired change, and while this ethos becomes more and more prevalent in my life, I admit I’m not perfect, nor do I claim to be, 100 percent of the time. However, I know that every small thing I do to honor those concerns is important and I hope that I can inspire change in others."

"The idea behind this book is layered, yet simple. First, I want you to recognize the power of your stash. Use the fabrics you already own to create the vibrant, dynamic quilts in this book, or any other book or project, with little to no fabric purchased. In fact, apart from backings, I made most of the quilts in this book with fabric from my stash. Second, if you do need or choose to buy yardage or supplement your stash to make a quilt in this book, you can make the secondary projects to still end up with virtually no waste. Regardless of the way you procure fabric, the result is you reduce consumption by using fabric you already own (refusing to buy more), supplementing with small amounts of fabric you need (refusing to buy in excess), and utilizing the material to the end (redesigning). It’s an ingenious idea in quilt design and scrap management, and a better use of our resources."
