Vintage Elegance, Handbag Styles Through the Eras

Did any of you play “dress-up” as a kid? Remember those glorious hours spent exploring your grandmother’s and your mom’s closets, and drawers? Our necks draped in pearls, feathered fans in one hand, a handbag on our arm, and impossibly large earrings clipped to our ears. I was blessed to have two generous women in my life that gave me those special memories.
The handbags, clutches, pouches, and evening bags, that I will share in my lecture, Vintage Elegance, include many that belonged to those two fabulous women. In addition to these, I will share other treasures that I have found through the years.
The selection of bags, ranges from the iconic to the eclectic, showcasing an interesting mix of materials, styles, and techniques that span over 100 years of fashion influences.
I will talk about the style of the bag, frames and closures, time periods, trends in materials, and influences in style.
Throughout the lecture I will give you tips on collecting and dating your “finds”. There will be a class handout included in your “Swag Bag” with additional information on shopping and bidding online, and where to get the “good stuff”.
