The Wedding Dress Quilt Virtual Book Tour

Howdy everyone from the Lonestar State! I am overjoyed to have you be part of The Wedding Dress Quilt Virtual Book Tour making its debut on C&T’s blog.

I've been writing for nearly 40 years. From food articles and a cookbook to Chicken Soup for the Soul to medical articles to a magical children’s book to a couple of time travel novels, to countless feature articles, writing has been my life and passion. And then the idea for The Wedding Dress Quilt popped into my head, which is pretty much how I get all my ideas. I sat down and started writing like a mad woman. Initially, I wrote a short story. I shared it with some quilting friends who encouraged me to expand the story into a novel. For several years, I developed and strengthened the story, turning it into “nearly” the book it is today.

I say “nearly” because at one point I realized that the story lacked pizazz. In other words, it was boring. I put it away for months, and read a lot of books and a variety of authors whose stories I loved and couldn’t put down. I wanted to figure out what they were doing that I was not. I made copious notes as I analyzed what these books offered readers. I finally went back to my manuscript and began rewriting. It quickly became obvious that my primary character, Lisbeth, needed to go through some life-changing events that would reshape her persona and spirit. Poor woman, I put her through the wringer. What emerged is a story that captures the readers' attention. I thought I was done, but I wasn’t. Not quite.

My brilliant publisher and editor realized that with fine-tuning, it would make a great cozy mystery. The makings of a cozy were already there, I just needed someone to see it for me. Armed with encouragement I tweaked the story again into a cozy mystery, seasoned with a bit of romance, finding long-lost family, second chances, and a stunning wedding dress that inspires her to make a double wedding ring quilt. Her life finally seems to be perfect until she discovers that beneath her euphoria, a stalker, and pieces of her past lie waiting to destroy her happiness. Rather than succumb to the evil, she challenges her innermost demons, takes on life-altering obstacles, and uncovers the darkness that follows her to a small town in Texas.

Intrigued? I hope so! For the rest of the week, each day there will be a blogger sharing their thoughts on my book, so be sure to check out their blog on the corresponding days:
