Projects All Over the House
Posted by Jen Lopez on Jul 8th 2020
I have projects in various stages of completion all over my house. They are in the living room, my sewing room, on the coffee table, on the kitchen table, next to the kitchen table… they are literally everywhere. Couple that with my Hubby’s train projects and we are our own maker’s warehouse. The fact that we are both avid crafters sort of keeps us both in check. He can hardly complain about my yarn all over the couch when his trains are all over my drawing table.
This state of affairs has spawned a running gag at my house: any horizontal surface that gets cleaned off will immediately be covered in a project. I’m guilty of quilts, of course. My Hubby’s crime is model trains and bridges, and now even my son is getting in on the game. Tired of the lack of space in the living room, I decided to undertake the monumental task of re-appropriating the upstairs TV/junk room into a work space for Mom. Two days of cleaning and organizing later, I was about to sit down to start a new project when I found that my son had swooped in on my newly cleaned space. He had settled into my now pristine drawing table to work on his comics of his favorite video game characters. I was so happy to see him creating that I didn’t even mind.
Apparently, there is no surer way to motivate new creativity than to clean up a space. So, sweep off a table and make something today!
