New Ideas for Beautiful and Useful Stitchery
Posted by Karla Menaugh on Feb 27th 2019
From artist Minki Kim's sketchbook, Diary in Stitches brings you sixty-five new motifs to stitch by machine or by hand.
A few years ago, Minki made a resolution to draw a design each day, and the result is Diary in Stitches, which shows you some of her best designs, as well as ideas for how to stitch them into a variety of projects that are both useful and beautiful.
In her signature style, Minki fills in key areas of her design with a few pieces of raw-edge appliqué, then stitches the complete design with a simple straight-line machine stitch in a dark thread (you could hand embroider the design if you prefer). The result is fresh, charming, and just right to personalize any number of items for your home or for gifting.
Diary in Stitches includes patterns for six projects: a zipper pouch, sewing case, sewing machine cover, wall pocket, mini quilt, and pillow.
You can mix and match Minki's sixty-five designs with one of the main projects to create your own personalized item. Or get even more inspiration from Minki's gallery of project ideas, which shows designs in frames and hoops; stitched into a pincushion, bookmark, Christmas card, needle case, tea mats, and potholders; and even enlarged to make a play mat. Happy stitching!
