What can I say? Cosplay For You is exactly that! Cosplay, but just for you. Beyond creating costumes that match what you see on screen or the page, author Sanit Klamchanuan shares his hard-earned professional costuming skills and shows you how you can create a costume that is all your own.

Whether it is a twist on a known character or costume or creating something entirely from your imagination, Sanit shares his creative process, go-to materials, and key skills. With his guidance, you can strike out on your own and create something unique to you.

At first, I wondered, why strike out on your own? Isn’t the point to portray a favorite character or look? Sanit quickly changed my mind, and there are many reasons to create your designs. You may want to:

  • Redesign a favorite look for comfort, better mobility, and the ability to transport or store a costume
  • Redraft portions of a costume to transfer a character from 2D to 3D or to mimic inhuman proportions while still being able to walk around a con all-day
  • Create a beloved character, but give it a spin from your personality
  • Craft a costume entirely born of your imagination and let it be a conversation starter so you can swap ideas with other makers

I was in awe of his skills before we met, but his true generosity bowled me over in working on this book. Even though he works for a major special effects, costumes, and props company, he is eager to credit other makers with helping him to learn and hone his craft. He is even more excited to share his knowledge with the creative community.

Inside the book, you’ll find not only the knowledge on how to get started but a true overview of the creative process. You’re bound to be inspired by looking at some fantastic builds and a front-seat view of Sanit’s journey. From art student to professional, his advice guides you on how to take your craft further.
