Let’s Play With Clay!

Last few weeks I felt like an impatient child, counting down the nights until something exciting happens. And finally, no more counting, as the day of my book release for Artisan Air-Dry Clay is here. It is a lot of happiness and relief after all the hard work. However, there is also a drip of sadness, because it means that a short, but thrilling episode of my life is approaching the end.
My creative journey started in my childhood, and all the arts and crafts have been with me since then. I returned to air-dry clay during the first covid lockdown in Spring 2020 and built my skills upon the previous experience I had from a younger age. Clay dishes and other home accessories became my very favorite creations and soon after, my style settled in navy blue and gold tones. The craft was my escape from daily reality and helped me to get through many difficult days. However, I never thought that small handmade dishes and coasters could be enough to establish a business, especially in this digital, fast-paced era. I was wrong!
It was a very casual spring day, I was working on one of the assignments for university when I received a message from Better Day Books. And it was also a day when working with air-dry clay was not just my hobby anymore as I agreed on authoring a book about clay techniques, tips, tricks, and projects.
Thanks to Better Day Book and C&T Publishing, I got a chance to share my love of arts and crafts with a wider audience. I know this might sound like a cliché but yes, this was always my dream – to show others how relaxing, delightful, and adventurous arts and crafts can be. I could never picture myself wearing a business suit, clapping to my office on high heels. Instead, I saw myself in a checked old shirt and dirty smock, dancing around the studio with brushes in my hands. By writing the Clay Craft, I could create an imaginary workshop where I teach my readers to form the clay, paint the finished products and assemble the pieces into stylish home decorations. However, most importantly, support the learners throughout the creative process and provide all the help they might need.
Whether you are a very beginner, or you’ve got previous experience with air-dry clay, this book offers something to everyone. I can’t wait to welcome you to my clay workshop and wish you all the best luck with upcoming creative projects!
