Free Project: Dyed Macramé Keychains
Dec 16th 2021
What are macramé keychains? Liz Welker and Sam Spendlove explain it perfectly in their book, DIY Guide to Tie Dye Style:
“Macramé keychains are adorable accessories that you can easily find in stores or make yourself. Since macramé cord is typically made with natural fibers like cotton twine, linen, hemp, or jute, it takes dye beautifully, resulting in endless possibilities for what you can macra-make!”
Let’s dive in and make one for ourselves!
Supplies
Cotton macramé keychain
Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye in Fuchsia,Turquoise, Coral, Purple, Green, and Yellow
Squeeze bottle
Dye-safe container
Wire rack
Gloves
Instructions
1 Soak the keychains in water. While they are soaking, prepare the dye in a squeeze bottle according to package directions.
2 In a dye-safe container, apply the dye with the squeeze bottle on the bottom half of the keychains.
3 Lay on a wire rack to set for 8 to 24 hours. The longer you let them sit, the more intense the color will be.
4 Rinse the keychains until the water runs clear and allow to dry.
