Meet Lori Lee Triplett. She is a Creative Spark instructor and she has combined a variety of passions — which include research, writing, and performing — into the quilt world.

As an award winning writer Lori has written more than 15 books and numerous magazine articles. Her most recent book written with her sister, Pioneer Quilts, examines the great western migration of the pioneers. The book uses 30 different quilts to tell the pioneer story through the eyes of Esther Heinzmann.

As an art quilter Lori prefers to work with hand dyed or hand painted fabric. Her artwork has been featured in multiple exhibitions, websites, publications, and books. She is an international award-winning artist including from the National Endowment for the Arts: American Masterpiece.

Join Lori Triplett for an hour of historical entertainment as she shares 25 amazing red and green quilts from the Poos Collection. The Poos Collection is one of the largest privately held quilt and textile collections in the world. This collection includes antique quilts with an emphasis on pre-1860 quilts. During Lori’s lecture, you’ll go on a journey to learn about the history of Turkey Red dye, why Christmas is now associated with this color combination, and where the color combination originated. The antique quilts you’ll see are all from the 19th century when Turkey Red was at its zenith.
