Book Review of "The Storyteller's Sampler Quilt"

Wow! Just wow! There is certainly no doubt that Cinzia White's quilt "Raconteur" deserved the multiple awards it received...as it is astonishing in print.
Seeing it up close must be one of those "life changing moments" experienced by few quilters. While I have absolutely no hope to actually re-create this quilt in my lifetime...this book will forever remain on my shelves because it is just such an inspiration. It also makes me think that I could manage a much smaller version (not the full 359 blocks); maybe more like a couple of dozen! Ha!
It also makes me want to design. I'm considering translating the piecing to total embroidery perhaps...which would be more manageable for me but still offer the fast project. Cinzia worked her blocks as she traveled because they could be easily packaged into small baggies for quick hand sewing. I'm thinking that quick hand embroidery might be more my style; but to each his own! Ha!
This book is just extraordinary in it's inclusion of full size patterns and instruction diagrams for all 359 blocks! The artwork is clear and there was no confusion about how to proceed if I did want to re-create this full quilt. The setting of smaller hexagons into a larger hexagon reminds me of honeycomb in a beehive; and the effort would be just as rewarding and sweet as those honey bees harvest!
