Hello all cosplayers and makers alike! I’m Sammy of Hoku Props and I’m so excited to share our first book of the Ultimate Cosplay Encyclopedia with you all! My husband, Chad, and I are award-winning cosplayers and industrial artists who love creative costuming. With our powers combined, we have over twenty years of experience in a multitude of fabrication disciplines, and absolutely love what we do. We’ve always been huge advocates for inclusivity and believe that everyone should have access to knowledge and education.

Just like you, we don’t know everything, and because of this, we reached out to our friends from all across the globe to offer their vast knowledge and personal expertise on practically all the thermoplastics that are available. We didn’t want to leave any stone unturned, and without their help, this book couldn’t offer all there is to know on modern plastics.

In this volume, there are twenty-four demonstrations on eleven different modern thermoplastics: worbla, wonderflex, thibra, varaform, fosshape, insulation XPS foam, PVC pipe, PVC vinyl, sintra, styrene, and acrylic solids. Outside of the demos, each section offers information on material as well as which safety measures you should take while working with them. From sculpting armor, weapons, and gems, to laser cutting and vacuum forming, our book has you covered.

Here are just a few examples of costumes and accessories that were made using the methods from our book!

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to join us on our virtual book tour! We look forward to seeing what new and creative things you all make, and don’t forget it’s never too late to learn something new! This book is by no means the be-all, end-all of information. So, we encourage you to continue to experiment, and find even more ideas and methods, hoping one day you’ll spread that knowledge to further cultivate the cosplay community.
