2024 Red and Green Antique Quilts Calendar from the Poos Collection

2024 Red and Green Antique Quilts Calendar from the Poos Collection

Posted by Lori Lee Triplett on Jun 12th 2023

Kay Triplett, my sister, first began collecting quilts in elementary school. She would rescue old tops and earn money to pay our grandma’s sewing circle to quilt them. As an adult, when she began to get serious about collecting, Nancy Hornback was influential in her life, teaching her more about quilt history as well as red and green quilts. Thus red & green quilts became the first specific area of interest as well as the first area of collecting.

The first exhibition of the Poos Collection was at the 2007 Houston Quilt Festival and was a collection of red and green quilts. When we had our first magazine photo shoot and photo published, it was a red and green quilt. Then it was quickly followed by an exhibition in France which was, you guessed it, a red and green quilt exhibition. The first book about the collection was launched at the exhibition in France and was about red and green quilts from the Poos Collection.

So, it only seems fitting that when we launch our first calendar full of quilts, it is of red and green quilts. So be sure to prepare for 2024 with your own copy of the 2024 Calendar Red & Green Antique Quilts from the Poos Collection

If those aren’t enough red and green quilts for eye candy, we invite you to an exhibition at the Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival (KCRQF) on June 15-17 in Overland Park, KS.

Wedding Album Quilt

At the festival, we’ll have a special exhibition of the red & green Wedding Album Quilt, which was the 2020 Triplett Sisters Block of the Month. The 1860 original antique quilt will be in the exhibition as well as 6 other quilts re-interpreting and reproducing the quilt. So, enjoy those red & green quilts, and shout out in the comment section about the quilt historian that inspired your quilting journey.
